As we bring our school year to a close, seniors are gearing up for life after high school. With a college preparatory curriculum, our school expects for students to continue their education after high school either at a four year University, in a City College, or in a vocational training program. Before they leave however, our seniors are expected to defend their graduation with a research paper, Prezi presentation and Electronic Portfolio.
Our students and staff welcomed a visit from the Cook County Board President. Not knowing exactly what to expect, our students prepared to extend both a warm “bienvenida” as well as share critical questions for our guest considering her role with key decisions related to the prisons and hospitals in Cook County.
Congratulations to PACHS Students Vex Robotics Team for competing in this year’s 2015 NEIU Upward Bound Vex Robotics Competition! After twenty-two weeks of hard work in our Instituto Abayarde after school program, eighteen students created and coded three fully functional robots to compete in the annual 2015 NEIU Upward Bound Vex Robotics Competition.
On Monday, November 3rd, special guests State Representative Greg Harris and State Representative Cynthia Soto visited our school to learn more about a special program that we have in place to support our students. Also in attendance were Jack Wuest, Executive Director of Alternative Schools Network (ASN), Marvin Garcia, President of our school’s Board of Directors, Martrice Manuel, Program Director of ASN, and Juan Calderon from the Puerto Rican Cultural Center.
